This Trio Sonata is the first of a set of six published in Paris in 1712 for pairs of ‘flûtes traversieres, flûtes a bec, violons, hautbois, &c.’ with continuo by Mr. Hotteterre, Flûte de la Chambre du Roy. They were dedicated to the Duke of Orleans and published ‘avec privilege du Roy.’ The first Sonata has been edited and arranged for flute, oboe & clarinet in Bb. The four movements, Prelude, Fugue, Grave and Gigue, are in the Baroque style with the interest equally shared between the three parts.

Mozart wrote the 5 Divertimenti in 1783 probably for his friend Anton Paul Stadler, the leading performer on the clarinet and basset horn of the day, for whom he also wrote his clarinet concerto. The 5 Divertimenti are all in the key of Bb and all have 5 movements and were intended for three basset horns or two clarinets and bassoon.There are 5 movements, Allegro, menuet & Trio, Adagio, Menuet & Trio & Rondo: Allegro assai. The piece is suitable for all players of about grade 6 A.B.R.S.M. and above and makes an excellent concert item for both formal and informal ocasions.

The string quartet is the second of three that Mozart wrote in 1790 for Friedrich Wilhelm II, King of Prussia, who was clearly a very good amateur cellist. There are four movements, Allegro, Larghetto, Minuetto and Allegro assai and the style and scale is very similar to that of the contemporary quartets by Joseph Haydn.This arrangement is suitable for advanced players.
